Waipu underworld - The CAVES
A scenic drive into the hills behind Waipu brings you to a wonderful set of caves covering 4 kms with millions of glowworms and home to one of the longest stalagmites in New Zealand.
Also recommended is the short bushwalk to the top of the hill to view the sea. Be prepared and don't forget good footwear that will tolerate shallow water and torches.
The dramatic coastal walkway takes approx 1.5 hours one way and winds along private bays with fabulous rocky cliffs, views and crystal clear waters below.
